NSW Hurdles Competitions 2021-22 season

It can be difficult to find competitions where there are hurdles available, so I thought it would be a good idea to list any events here so people can find opportunities to race hurdles.

So far in NSW I have found the following opportunities to run straight/sprint hurdles:

• 13 Nov 2021: NSW 3000m Championships - supporting events @ SOPAC Warm Up
• 28 Nov 2021: Hunter Region Summer Series - Round 1 @ Maitland Regional Athletics Centre (ANSW permit meet?)
• 5 Dec 2021: Illawarra Blue Stars - An Afternoon of Sprints @ Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre, Wollongong
• 18 Dec: Athletics NSW All Comers @ SOPAC Warm Up (AA permit meet)

Circular/long hurdles:

• 9-12 Dec 2021: NSW All Schools Championships @ SOPAC (200m & 400m)
• 18 Dec 2021: Albie Thomas Mile @ The Crest Athletics Track (400m @ 76.2cm, 84cm & 91.4cm)
• 18 Dec 2021: Bankstown Milers @ The Crest Athletics Track (400m @ 76.2cm, 84cm & 91.4cm) (ANSW permit meet?)
• 20 Jan 2022: Bankstown Milers @ The Crest Athletics Track (400m) (ANSW permit meet?)

There should also be both straight and circular hurdles at the following championship events (all AA permit meets):

• 9-12 Dec 2021: NSW All Schools Championships @ SOPAC
• 15-16 Jan 2022: AACT All Comers (in conjunction with ACT & NSW Combined Events Championships) @ Woden Athletic Track, Canberra
• 28-30 Jan 2022 ACT Open and U20 Track & Field Championships @ AIS, Canberra
• 18-20 Feb 2022 ACT U14-U18 Track & Field Championships @ Woden Athletic Track, Canberra
• 18-20 Feb 2022 Athletics NSW Open & U23 Championships @ SOPAC
• 25-27 Feb 2022 Athletics NSW U14-U20 Championships @SOPAC

I added a new event I found: Illawarra Blue Stars - An Afternoon of Sprints at Kerryn McCann Athletic Centre in Wollongong on 5th Dec 2021

Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, short hurdles, javelin and pole vault.

I've still not found any long hurdles events which aren't championships!

It is by no means complete - but should at least give people an indication about what events are available.

The Albie Thomas Mile at The Crest Athletics Track on 18 Dec 2021, has 400m hurdles in 76.2cm, 84cm & 91.4cm specs.

The Albie Thomas Mile is the first Club High Performance event of the series, with a variety of exciting, welcoming and enjoyable events for all athletes, leading to the high quality Elite 400m, 800m, and Albie Thomas 1 Mile Races at the end of the night.

Note that the Albie Thomas Mile has been cancelled - but Bankstown Sports Athletics Club is running the first of their "Milers Series" interclub meets commencing on the 18th Dec instead - which will retain the 400m hurdles as a supporting event.

Athletics NSW have scheduled an Athletics NSW All Comers event on the 18th December at SOPAC warmup track, which includes sprint hurdles.

The ACT & NSW Combined Events Championships will be held at Woden Athletics Park in Canberra on the 15-16th January.

In conjunction with this championship event, AACT will be holding an "All Comers" meet offering both sprint and long hurdles (including 200m hurdles!) events.
